The graduation awards for the Bryan School of Business were tonight. I was honored for additional achievements for my Graduate studies by Beta Gamma Sigma, the honor society for business students. This was more like re-induction, but not really so because I was already inducted from my undergraduate work.
I also received the "Dean's Service Award" during the ceremony. The dean presented the awards, of course, and noted my involvement with being the unofficial Bryan School photographer for the past years. He was right to state I would much rather be the one taking pictures of the event than being up on stage. In all truthfulness, I love to be recognized for my work, but am very fickle about how I'm recognized in public. This is mainly because I am concerned about others believing I did something with this end in mind and not because I did it out of the kindness of my heart. I will avoid this misconception with a passion. (I also received the "Dean's Service Award" during my undergraduate career. Yes, I love volunteering.)
After the ceremony, I stopped off at the campus convenience store. Earlier the previous week, I took pictures of one of the chancellor's alumni events. As a gift of gratitude, one person presented me with $50 in "declining balance," which can only be used on campus to purchase food. Due to the car accident the previous day, I had only managed to spend $12 of it. To spend the final amount, which expired that night, I pulled a little "Supermarket Sweep". I was with another person (the person who I was coming back to campus to answer his question when the car accident happened) at that time, and told him to get whatever he wanted. Let me say it is difficult to spend $38 when I am used to saving every penny, but I eventually cleared the entire amount.
Graduation is tomorrow, so that's good.
