I went ahead and released the next version of my Picture Project web site ahead of schedule. I needed 160 pictures to reach 3000, the planned release point, but I only published around 55 from the bowling event. What can I say; bowling is repetitive, not well lit, and one flash can only go so far.
To date, 29 people have viewed the bowling slide show, 7 the previous photo album, 5 other albums, and 3 the Dr. White page (no other views for other pages). I am disappointed only three people have viewed the Dr. White page, as I thought it was an interesting, if not funny, idea. Still, the new site has only been up for two days--not enough time for many views. By my estimate, most people look at slide shows within two days after its posting.
I decided to release the site because most of my work was complete and the next CSC event I will attend is the first of April--perhaps at best halfway through March. I might as well get more mileage out of it. Besides, I think it looks better and more professional than the old site. The odd thing is that I have yet to hear anything from the user community. It seems they saw it and just went about their daily activities without an "isn't that nice" comment on the list-serv. Ah, well... Users are encountering so many new things online that they probably have built up a high tolerance for new designs.
The user community is definitely not easily impressed as it once was. That just means I'll have to try harder the next thing I do.
