A friend and I are pondering starting a car club for those who modify their cars. It should begin about the time I get the WRX--perhaps in two years or whenever I get a job that pays me what I am worth. (My current job is ideal, save for the pay, so it will be difficult to move onwards.)
Here's how it happened: We had been interested in building the basics for a while now. The most basic thing was the name. Being avid "Initial D" fanatics, we originally wanted to play off something in the show (and, of course, it would not be obvious at all that we had done so). Well... that didn't work out. So...

"What do we want the club to do," I asked. He looked at me and explained he wanted the club to help others learn about modifying cars and various maneuvers prominently featured in "Intiail D". "So," I rephrased, "We want the club to support its members and be a foundation to their excellence? Hmm..." After brainstorming by throwing names out for a bit, I asked him to state a car's axel's purpose. It was roughly the same thing. I combined the words "axel" and "excel", creating "Axcel". He liked that word, but I kept on brainstorming. In the end, this was the chosen name.
Next came the logo. The thumbnail to the right is the original brainstorming sheet for the logo. I drew the logo in the box on the left. After that, he drew the one in the upper right corner. In response to that, I drew the one below it, which he then modified. Finally, I drew the third one on the right--satisfying us. After that, I refined it to the one on the bottom of the sheet and initialed the page.

I have a few variations on the logo, but the main logo is the one depicted at the top of this log entry. Another variation on this is a checkered theme, shown to the immediate right. I have also produced three decals for car windows based on the non-checkered image. Perhaps I will do another based on the checkered one? I have no idea.
Anyway, he has yet to see the new logo. I wonder what he will think?
