Haunted Attraction Pictures

What is This?
This site contains picture albums of Triad-area (NC) haunted attractions.  These are the best pictures you can find of your favorite haunted attractions--Forest of Horror (formerly Haunted Forest), Castle of Horror, Woods of Terror, and Spookywoods.  In 2004 and 2005, it was volunteer-based.  In 2006, I set up a partial charging system; pay for a night or two and I will continue to take pictures during my free nights.

3,040 Total Pictures!

Haunted attraction pictures will be posted by 3AM the same night, except Thursday shoots.

The Attractions

Forest of Horror (formerly Haunted Forest):  This is where it all began in 2004.  Two nights and a year later, I was hooked on haunted attraction photography.  I returned in 2005, adding two other attractions to my list.  "Forest of Horror" is a 22 minute haunted trail.  Quite nice and they have been working on it for many years.

I hear the attraction has been redesigned this year. Let's see what they came up with!

2007 Picture Count: 80 (80)

2006 Picture Count: 65 (48, 17)

2005 Picture Count: 123 (23, 53, 10, 37)

2004 Picture Count: 268  (154, 114)

Castle of Horror (Reidsville):  This attraction is associated with the Haunted Forest.  "Castle of Horror" is an indoor attraction in the shape of a castle.  Taking almost the same time as "Forest of Horror", this attraction uses its small space efficiently.  This is the only attraction I know of that changes 100% every year, so it's your loss if you miss it even one year.

2006 Picture Count: 111 (111)

2006 Picture Count: 80 (80)

2005 Picture Count: 123 (41, 49, 33)

Woods of Terror on Church Street:   This attraction bills itself as the haunted attraction in Greensboro.   It was the only attraction in 2005 I could not photograph in one night.

2007 Picture Count: 289  (59, 97, 35, 98)

2006 Picture Count: 235 (85, 79, 91)

2005 Picture Count: 400  (89, 85, 115, 50, 61)

Kersey Valley Spookywoods:  My perfect shooting grounds: a well-run, professionally-done haunted attraction.  From my experience walking through the attraction on a rainy night in early 2006, I can confidently say it is one of the largest attractions I have seen.  Since then, it has become my favorite attraction, mostly because the staff (including the actors) is excited and eager to work with me.

Looking at other information about the haunt, it has the largest staff of any haunt in the state (130). Combining its "Maize Adventure", it puts more than 50,000 people through a year!  Wow!

2008 Picture Count: 302 (26, 66, 50, 56, 104)

2007 Picture Count: 331 (62, 51, 42, 59, 39, 78)

2006 Picture Count: 535 (34, 65, 78, 48, 46, 94, 170)

Hacker House

Hacker House:  Perhaps the first haunted attraction of which I have heard (courtesy of them auctioning off tickets at Stellarcon, a convention I help run, in the past).  This is a half indoors, half outdoors affair around the Pilot Mountain area. Very nicely differentiated from other area attractions, this one also has something special to offer.

2007 Picture Count: 62 (62)

Nightmare on 901:  A quick trip to South Carolina gave me the chance to shoot this attraction for a little more than half an hour.  So much to see, so little time!

2006 Picture Count: 26  (26)

Nightmare on Independence:  An indoor attraction in Charlotte.  I stopped by with Spookywoods on our Wednesday tour.  I think this is the attraction's first year.

2006 Picture Count: 16  (16)

Minor Potentials/Alternates: Terror Trail (Stanleyville).

Want In?  If you want your attraction covered, contact me (I charge a bit, but the quality is worth it).

The maximum attractions I will shoot in one year is equal to the following: at least two days for new attractions and at least one day for previously photographed attractions, distributed into the number of shooting days.  Therefore, for five attractions, two new and one previously photographed that I allocate two days, I will require at least eight days.  If I have twelve shooting days (as in 2005), I can add two new attractions or distribute the remaining days to the other attractions.

We're Number One!
Check out MSN Search; we're the number one ranked page when someone searches for "haunted pictures" or "haunted attraction pictures" (even without the quotes)!  If we're not the top site on most searches of this topic, we're usually in the top ten!

Thanks to all our fans for supporting us!  As we don't advertise--even at the attraction--our ranking and visibility is completely dependent upon your support!  Thank you for emailing friends and spreading the word about us in our first full season!

The Conditions
I will photograph attractions on explicit conditions:
1) I do not request payment. I do this because I enjoy it and want to provide attractions some excellent material for the 2006 season.  I may request payment in later years to cover the expenses of gas and new equipment specifically purchased to photograph attractions.
2) The pictures are my property and will remain so. Please do not reuse, sell, or distribute the pictures herein without my express, written permission.  Newspapers may contact me for publishing information.
3) I will post the pictures here, storing them on my storage site, DevFolio.com.  I own both PhoenixPo.com and DevFolio.com and they are ad- and malware-free.
4) The pictures may also be posted only on that haunted attraction's web site. I must be given credit (a byline) on the site's picture page. I also request a link to this "Haunted Attraction Pictures" page to accompany the byline.  I request the link because I am constantly asked by attraction customers where I will post the pictures.  I want to tell them to go to the attraction's web site and follow it here.
Attraction site webmasters are asked to contact me for larger images without my watermarks. Please note each picture will be between 500KB and 1.2MB, so please state whether you would like the pictures as a zipped attachment or a temporary downloadable link.
5) Removing Pictures:  I try to take as many pictures of both the guests and the attraction itself as time and creativity allows. Patrons, please keep in mind US law states this is a public place and I may photograph people engaging in public activities. I realize people may not like having their picture taken. Therefore, I will respect email requests to remove pictures of the requester from this site. A request may not be honored if the picture is one of the best for that attraction. I also hope attraction webmasters feel the same.
